Alana Tosti, Editor-in-Chief of Modern Luxury Weddings Philadelphia, lives and breathes this.

She has spent her entire career in publishing, working for prestigious brands such as Town & Country, Teen Vogue, and the New York Post.

Read on to see why she is someone who embodies #realityisextraordinary and inspires us.

What do you do?

I curate the best of the luxury wedding industry in a gorgeous, glossy wedding magazine each season. That means looking at hundreds and hundreds of wedding photos!

What do you love about what you do?

The wedding industry is filled with happiness. It's about celebrating love with all the people you love and making the day your version of perfection. I could never get bored of reading engagement stories or romantic details from a wedding. What can I say? I love love.

Where are you from?

I was born in New York City but primarily grew up in Bucks County, PA.

Education?

Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Ithaca College.

Sign?

Leo.

Favorite Americae items and why?

  1. Yellow Sculpture Leather Top Handle BagI have a lot of black in my wardrobe and am actually trying to acquire more colorful pieces. I love the structure and spirit of this bag.
  2. Velvet Satin Reversible Kimono Coat I'm all about adding a beautiful coat to any look – and you can never have enough of them. This jacket makes a statement and is definitely one-of-a-kind.
  3. Oro Bracelet This bracelet would look good with anything! It’s one of those pieces that you would get non-stop compliments on.

Who do you think embodies the Americae Woman, living or dead, and why?

My late mother, Aila. She was an extraordinary mother and friend who embodied elegance, luxury, and empowerment. I was inspired at a young age by the glamorous stories of her career at Tiffany & Co. in New York. She taught me how to truly find joy in fashion.

Describe your style and why is it authentically you?

Going from fashionista to a mother of young boys drastically changed my style. I now look for things that are easy to wear. However, I don't compromise my style. I’ve always loved feminine accents, like lace, ruffles, peplum, and beading and still look for pieces that incorporate that. Additionally, while I might be in distressed skinny jeans and a flowy top with my boys, I’ll add a scarf or bag that make me feel more styled.

Motherhood, I once swore that I would never wear flats, but I was very, very wrong.

Our ethos is 'reality is extraordinary.' What does that mean to you?

To me, reality is extraordinary means that you shouldn't wait to do what you love, wear what you love, or be with whom you love. The here and now is what it's all about and if you wait too long, life will pass you by. There are moments to be celebrated each and every day.

What's on your bookshelf?

A large collection of old magazines. It's hard for me to throw them away! I have old copies of Vogue and a wide assortment of wedding issues that I keep around for inspiration. Scattered in there you also find the mom section with treasures like Give Peas a Chance and Diaper Free Before 3.

Favorite travel destination?

Santorini, Greece. It's magical.

What's next for you?

Continuing to do more in the local wedding industry and building brand awareness for Modern Luxury Weddings Philadelphia. We had such a successful launch in June 2018 and we are keeping the momentum going!

What's your personal motto or what message would you like to share with women?

Be mindful even when your mind is full. We have so much running through our minds (or screens) at any given moment whether we are wives, moms, entrepreneurs, or doing it all. We have to stop and remember to really bewhere we are or we will miss it all.
