Danié Gómez––also known by her Instagram moniker of Journey of a Braid––has had a career that has included stops at Disney and Glamour Magazine. Along the way she has learned a few things––like the importance of dressing for yourself and being your best champion.
More specifically, Danié describes herself as a "Mexican entrepreneur and visual storyteller who is passionate for fashion as a reflection of the self."
Similarly, AMERICAE believes in the emboldening power of clothing, in celebrating ourselves as women, views dressing as an extension of the self––a form of self-expression, and believes in the concept of #realityisextraordinary.
We are excited to share the story of someone who lives and breathes the same.
What do you do?
I'm a braider, a journalist and visual storyteller. I believe in the power of stories, and use mine for people to reflect on their own, through my writing and my imagery. I also launched my line of scarves, which is all about daily intentions and helping other women succeed.
What do you love about what you do?
I love that what I do has an emotional impact on people and the way they see the world.
Where are you from?
Bachelor's degree in Marketing. I studied in Mexico, Madrid and New York.
Favorite AMERICAE items and why?
Who do you think embodies the AMERICAE woman and why?

Mexican minimalist with a touch of glam and a ton of color.
What drives you?
Knowing my time is limited.
What's on your bookshelf?
A mix of Ayn Rand, Isaac Asimov, Pablo Neruda, The Power of Now, and tons of biographies. My absolute fave right now is Marina Abramovic's autobiography.

My next stop is Colorado. Taking my children on their first skiing trip. Going to Tokyo in December. Can't wait. That's the place I want to see the most.
What's next for you?
The official launch of CANVAS, my line of scarves, and a surprise that is more related to the art world.
What's your personal motto or what message would you like to share with women?
You are whoever you think you are, so make sure you think highly of you. Your life depends on it.
